A real Owl

Friends, yesterday I tempted you with the idea of owl hunting, then did not show you an owl.  Here is an owl image from my archives.  Sometimes in a photo-a-day project like this one, you need to pull from the archives in order to follow a blog topic.  Since I haven’t found any owls this winter, I will pull from my archives one of my favorite images of all my photo times.

This Great Gray Owl was found in 2005 in northern Minnesota.  I saw her on a tree branch and ran from the truck to get closer, I stopped and she flew straight at me.  At the last second, she banked away and landed in the snow, only a few feet from me.  My camera was furiously clicking away, I caught the whole sequence.  This is my favorite, with the natural bokeh behind her, every feather is defined.  Snow or sky make great bokeh. When she had satisfied her curiosity and decided that i had no mice, she flew back to her branch perch, and i went on to photograph other owls.  til Tomorrow MJ
